Program description

NEWS BULLETINS
Radio Sagarmatha comes up with 6 news bulletins under "Halchal". Timings are 8:45-9 in the morning, 11:45-12 noon, 14:45-15 and 16:45-17 in the afternoon. There are "Halchal" editions at 18:45-19:15 and at 21:45-22. Add to it "Radio Khabar Patrika", which is aired through 6-7:15 in the morning. The program is dedicated to media scan and has everything from news, current events, interviews-based on current affairs, weather, silver and bullion prices and public engagements scheduled during the day. Radio Sagarmatha re-broadcasts Nepali Language Service of the BBC through 20:45- 21:15

SOCIAL AND CURRENT AFFAIR PROGRAMMES
Radio Sagarmatha broadcasts as many as 90 programs a week. They are packaged to the need of the aged, children, policy-makers, youth, and women. Let's take a tour: Program like "Aaja Ka Kura", which is on current affairs; "Dabali", which is on day-to-day public life, and "Batabaran Dabali", which is on environmental issues, are noted for their incisive discourse.

Similarly, "Bhasa, Sahitya Ra Sanchar Dabali", which on literature; "Artha Dabali", which is on economic issues; "Sikshya Dabali", which is devoted to education; "Bidhi ko Sashan", which is on rule of law, are equally incisive in content. Programs like "Arogya", which is on health, and 'Chitikka", which is on sanitation, are also fortified in content and quality. "Radio Kurakani", which is on current issues; "Rangashala", which is on sports, and "Prabidhi", which is on technology, are equally popular among listeners.

Program like "Hidda Hiddai", which dedicated to "man on the street"; "Yuma Awaj", which is dedicated to youth; "Canvas", which is devoted to the fine arts; "Lukamari", which is devoted to children, and "Hamro Sarokar", which is devoted to general concern are no less popular. Programs like "Uhile Baje Ka Palama", which is targeted at the aged population; "Pani Ra Sarsaphai", which is dedicated to water and sanitation; "Sanjivani", which is devoted to health, and "Bhukampiya Surakshya", which to earthquake precaution, are special programs given their themes. No less popular among achievers is "Safalata Ko Goreto", which highlights success stories. Next among many more is Sagarmatha Online, a program devoted to information technology. Radio Sagarmatha also runs programs in Tamang, Maithili and Newar languages, too.

MUSIC/ ENTERTAINMENT
Radio Sagarmatha blares out music programs too. The fare is full of classical, contemporary, pop, folk, film and spiritual music. The archive is filled up with golden oldies to brand new numbers. The total numbers add up to over 20,000. "Sangeet Pravati" is the unique programme based on classical music and song. "Mirmire Bhaka" is dedicated to modern music and songs, "Naya Pusta" is dedicated to music preferred by teenagers, "Lok Bhaka", of course, is dedicated to folk music and songs while "Sangeet Aakash" is dedicated to songs from the remote past. Then there is a program "Rojai ka Geet" which takes requests from the listeners and dishes our choicest fare. Here is something new: Many of our programs are so designed that even listeners can sing for us and enhance their skill in return. They are also welcome to share poetry of their own on Radio Sagarmatha, something which is contributing to creativity. Some have even become singers and come up with their own albums. Others have become writers after they contributed poems and ghazals to us. They have even come up with their own anthology. We at Radio Sagarmatha take pride in it all.

COLLABORATIVE PRODUCTION
Ever since its arrival Radio Sagarmatha has been working with local interest groups, NGOs and development agencies and thus highlighting the issues and agenda of their concern and area of work. This is accomplished under three categories: co-productions, contract programs and sponsorships and paid Public Service Announcements (PSAs).

CO-PRODUCTION:
Under this, Radio Sagarmatha extends technical and production support to any organization which volunteers to fund the programs. Under it, the sponsor will have editorial say, with Radio Sagarmatha only providing air-time, and technical support.

CONTRACT PROGRAMS:
Under it, major undertakings are underwritten by major international agencies, foundations and institutes. Benefit to them lie in the fact that they stand every chance of disseminating their mandate in effective manner, and thus educating and spreading awareness among the target groups.

SPONSORSHIPS AND PAID PSA:
Sponsorship can include paying for specific program or under barter system. PSA can be placed on regular or infrequent basis.
