| Getting
involved |
|
Listen
One of the
best ways to get involved is to listen. Our
frequency in the Kathmandu Valley is FM 102.4
MHz. You can also access our recorded audio
programmes through this website. Just click
here to move to the Radio page.
Once you know what we do, we’d like to know
what you think and how you would like to get
involved. |

Letters, Phone Calls
& Visits
We encourage listeners,
supporters and others to write letters including
all forms of feedback and suggestions. Many of these
are shared with other listeners on the airwaves.
Letters can be sent by post or via email. Feel free
to call us. If you call between 10 AM and 1 PM local
time, we can record your call and use it on the
air. If you are in position to, we also encourage
you to drop by. Our studios and offices are located
in Bakhundole, Lalitpur in the Kathmandu Valley. |

Community Announcements &
PSAs |
|
News
about events and activities
are broadcast daily on the
station’s evening community
bulletin - Halchal. Submissions
from the community-at-large
are essential for this programme.
If you have news to send,
you can do so by fax
or by emailing Radio Sagarmatha
at the NEWS
Section. PSAs (public service
announcements) send to Haalchaal
are also aired on other
programs. |

Volunteers
are an increasingly important
part of Radio Sagarmatha’s
team of producers, broadcasters
and organizers. We encourage
public participation and
are always working to improve
both our program service
and our training programs.
If you are interested in
becoming a volunteer, phone
us, email
or just drop by our office. |

Programming with RS |
| Co-production |
Co-production
is an area of programming in which local interest
groups work with the station to produce programs
for a particular audience or on a particular
topic. In general, the editorial responsibility
for the program lies with the community group
and RS provides airtime, technical and other
support. The programs are not only a source
of programming for the station, but also represent
an important element of community participation
and financing. |
| Contract Programming |
Funded
productions are an area of programming in
which major undertakings are underwritten
by a contracting agency, generally international
development agencies, foundations and institutes
whose mandates can be effectively served by
public education and awareness. |
| Sponsorships & Paid PSAs |
Though
Radio Sagarmatha is non-commercial, the station
does air paid sponsorship messages and information
spots. The financial and in-kind support of
local businesses, media and other organizations
is recognized in regular pre-recorded messages
that give basic information about the sponsoring
groups. Sponsorships can be for specific shows
or the station’s programming as a whole with
payment in cash or through barter of in-kind
services. Paid PSAs (public service announcements)
publicizing local services are aired in a
regular schedule on the same basis. |
